Background

Estée Lauder is a global leader in prestige beauty, renowned for its premium makeup, skincare, fragrance, and hair care products. With a diverse portfolio of 25+ brands sold in approximately 150 countries, the company has a strong international presence. Since 2019, CLEARgo has been working with Estée Lauder on Singapore’s Staff Sales store, called The Company Store, which runs on Magento Open Source.

During the 2020 pandemic, Estée Lauder expanded this store into a Friends & Family platform, allowing users with invitations to log in and make purchases. The surge in traffic and orders prompted the need to upgrade the platform from a single-country solution to a scalable, regional e-commerce infrastructure.

Challenge

Estée Lauder required a robust e-commerce solution that could handle multi-country operations, manage increased traffic, and streamline business processes through system integrations. The solution needed to support localization for multiple regions and maintain efficient operations across geographical boundaries.

CLEARgo played a critical role in helping Estée Lauder transition to a multi-country platform, delivering a comprehensive solution that addressed their needs for scalability, integration, and localization.

Platform Migration to Adobe Commerce Cloud

To accommodate future growth and ensure a stable, scalable infrastructure, CLEARgo migrated Estée Lauder’s e-commerce platform  to Adobe Commerce Cloud. This new platform provided a solid foundation for multi-country expansion, enabling seamless operations across different regions. The upgrade also ensured higher performance, improved security, and more robust features to handle increased traffic and order volume.

 

Multi-Country Infrastructure Setup

We restructured Estée Lauder’s platform to support a multi-country setup, allowing the brand to operate across various countries with ease. The platform was built to manage localized content, language, currency, and payment gateways tailored to each country. This structure provided a streamlined operational model while ensuring consistency in brand experience across multiple regions.

System Integration for Enhanced Connectivity

To create a unified ecosystem, CLEARgo integrated the e-commerce platform with Estée Lauder’s existing systems. This included integrating with SAP for financial and operational management, ForgeRock for secure identity and access management, HRConnect for employee data, and ASN (Advanced Shipping Notice) for seamless order fulfillment. Additionally, CLEARgo connected the platform with various country-specific payment gateways, ensuring smooth payment processing for each region. This comprehensive integration eliminated data silos, improved operational efficiency, and provided real-time data access across systems.

Quota & Anti-Diversion System Implementation

To protect Estée Lauder’s business from potential financial risks, CLEARgo implemented a quota and anti-diversion system. This system allowed Estée Lauder to set transaction limits for different customer groups, ensuring that purchasing quotas were adhered to and preventing product diversion. This solution not only enhanced compliance with internal sales policies but also mitigated the risk of unauthorized reselling.

Localization and Ongoing Support

After successfully launching the platform in Singapore, CLEARgo expanded the platform to support additional countries, including Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, and Vietnam. Localization efforts involved adapting the platform’s language, currency, taxation, and other region-specific functionalities to meet the unique requirements of each market. This ensured a tailored shopping experience for customers in different regions, while maintaining centralized control and consistency for the Estée Lauder brand.
